Melissa Foster has lived in Arizona since 2003 after moving from North Dakota where she was born and raised. She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics along with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. While teaching full time, Melissa completed her requirements needed through NAU and received her license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
Melissa worked for 12 years in the Kyrene School District as a classroom teacher teaching 3rd grade, 1st grade, and kindergarten over the course of those years. Her passion was in early literacy and intervention, which led her to the field of speech pathology. She believes in early intervention and wanted a path where she could use this passion more specifically and help children of all ages on a one-on-one basis.
Along with having two boys of her own, Melissa has worked with children of all ages and abilities. Working in a school allowed her to interact with children from different socio-economic situations, cultural backgrounds, levels of family involvement, along with physical, emotional, or neurological abilities in more of a group setting. She is happy to now work with DVPT, which allows her to work in a private setting, extending this level of experience while meeting and working with children of all ages and abilities both in homes, schools, and at the clinic. She believes that all children are unique and special and need love and attention to meet their true potentials.
Today you are YOU!
That is truer than TRUE!
There is no one alive
That is you-er than YOU!
