Angela Hughes is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Emerson College in Boston and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (minor in Spanish) from John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH. She works with children birth to three as part of the Arizona Early Intervention Program as well as kiddos older than 3 in their homes. She has worked with children with special needs for over 10 years; roles including Developmental Special Instructor (with AzEIP), ABA Therapist, and now SLP. Additionally, Angela has formal training and experience in the evaluation and treatment of feeding difficulties for infants through adulthood. Angela loves providing services in the home or natural environment in order to collaborate with families so that they are educated and empowered to help their children meet important milestones and family goals. Angela has a working proficiency of Spanish and continues to grow in this area, interacting with the families that she serves and the teammates that she works with. She is a lifelong learner, continually seeking knowledge and training to better support the children and families that she works with. Angela is pleased to be back in Phoenix where she was born, working for DVPT and a great team in early intervention.
When not doing home visits as an SLP, Angela enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, hiking and exploring to discover all of Arizona’s vast beauty, or sneaking away for a weekend in San Diego to practice surfing.
